The Client

Primus, with a heritage spanning three centuries, is a leader in outdoor cooking solutions, known for their innovative and award-winning products used in extreme environments like polar expeditions and Everest climbs.

Silva, founded in 1933, is renowned for inventing the first liquid-filled compass and pioneering outdoor navigation tools. They focus on creating products, such as compasses and headlamps, to support elite athletes and everyday adventurers in all conditions.

The Challenge

Tasked with increasing the presence of Primus & Silva in the UK, we recently discovered an opportunity for them to team up with charity, Mind Over Mountains and fundraiser, Dan Beaumont, who has since gone on to complete the gruelling challenge of ‘The Big 4 Rounds’. This involved conquering 152 mountain summits, over 31,200 meters of ascent, and nearly 400 kilometers across Britain’s most challenging mountain ranges and was part of a larger initiative to highlight the benefits of nature for mental and physical wellbeing.

By connecting people with nature, Primus & Silva are not only enhancing the outdoor experience through innovative gear, but also supporting a vital cause that aligns with their commitment to the outdoors.

Mind Over Mountains organise therapeutic walks and retreats in National Parks like the Lake District and Snowdonia, combining nature with mindfulness sessions and support from qualified coaches and counselors. The charity aims to raise £500,000 to meet the growing demand for mental health services, especially through partnerships with primary care networks.

Like all good partnerships, values and beliefs between Primus & Silva and Mind Over Mountains were aligned.

The Result

‘The Big Rounds’ – completed it!

Dan Beaumont – “After 15 months of travelling across all the nations of the UK, I’m proud to say that the Big Rounds are now complete – or at least the running part is. The conditions were some of the worst I’ve ever experienced – cold, wet, and grim for almost the entire 24 hours. After 16 hours of running, countless falls (inc. a painful fall on my ribs early on in Leg 1), snapped poles, and painful blisters, I realised finishing within the proposed 24 hours wasn’t going to happen. The temptation to quit was overwhelming, but leaving the project unfinished wasn’t an option. So, I dug deep and pushed through for the next 10 hours to cross that finish line.”

Great to see coverage across BBC News Bristol World, Westmoreland Gazette and National World plc and more importantly, another huge shout out to Dan for raising over £7,000 for Mind Over Mountains!

"We are thrilled to support his ambitious journey across the UK's toughest mountain terrains. His dedication to mountain running and raising mental health awareness aligns perfectly with our mission to empower outdoor enthusiasts."
