Requirements

We’re looking for a new Account Director with…

A passion for and deep understanding of the sports and outdoor industries. 

A responsibility for managing and growing accounts, new business development and the strategic planning and execution of PR campaigns. 

A proven track record of managing large, complex projects / relationships and delivering against key targets and objectives, ideally with a sports focus. 

Extensive experience working in an Account Director or Comms Director capacity at either another agency or an in-house role for an international brand / business, ideally with a sports, outdoor or fitness focus. 

Some knowledge of corporate PR & crisis communications. 

Strong analytical skills, with the ability to monitor and report on the effectiveness of campaigns. 

Experience managing multiple large-scale marketing and PR project budgets. 

Experience of running a pro-active and reactive press office and the handling of incoming media enquiries. 

Multifaceted omnichannel expertise across strategic, creative, digital, activation and PR. 

Demonstrable creative flair to introduce new internal PR & marketing initiatives to help raise the agency profile. 

Excellent negotiation skills, with the ability to identify and pursue new business opportunities to grow accounts or client rosters. 

A strong, existing network of contacts across the sport, outdoor and fitness industries who sit in a senior marketing or PR position. 

A wide and working relationship with a broad range of media contacts. 

Outstanding interpersonal skills, able to develop positive relationships at all levels, internally and externally. 

Experience of contributing in a strategic and creative capacity to marketing and PR campaigns as well as roll-out strategy plans. 

Exceptional communication skills, verbal, written, presentation – with clarity of expression. 

Demonstrable people management skills and an ability to motivate and inspire a team of people. 

Experience of managing work in a fast-paced environment. 

The ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines. 

Confidence in decision making in the interest of overall company performance. 

Roles & Responsibilities

You will be responsible and expected to…

 

Bring creative and strategic insight, knowledge and experience to the Brandwave team. 

Deliver outstanding client projects, build Brandwave’s profile and brand. 

You will work in a hybrid working model combining account management & PR expertise. 

The role is designed to work closely with the Managing Director and Founder to influence and help shape the future business with a specific focus on growing the PR division, securing clients and delivering retained PR services. 

 

With Brandwave expanding it’s business through PR you will be responsible and accountable for: 

Increasing Brandwave’s market share of UK & international retained PR work. 

Evolving and building on Brandwave’s existing PR services and work. 

Working with the internal Brandwave Marketing Director to communicate an elevated PR service offering to potential new and existing clients. 

Securing longer term commitment from our existing clients, strategically growing these accounts to include retained PR. 

Supporting Brandwave to become a respected, recognised and considered agency for PR. 

 

As an active part of the Brandwave team we ask that you and all members prioritise client facing account work. This area of your role includes, but is not limited to: 

Managing and growing client accounts, building strong relationships with clients, media and identifying new business opportunities. 

Using your understanding and experience of consumer and/or B2B PR to conceptualise, plan and deliver impactful PR campaigns. 

Utilising your knowledge of the media and their requirements to ensure the smooth running of the Brandwave Press Office.

Writing quality copy and press releases. Assisting in the reporting, analysis and evaluation of PR campaigns. Providing insight and recommendations for future improvement. 

Combining your creativity with media knowledge to recognise / identify opportunities to generate positive coverage or profile pieces for our clients across a broad media spectrum. 

Building, structuring and managing project teams as / when required to deliver on client accounts. Managing a team of account execs, managers and external professionals to provide leadership, guidance and support. 

Project scoping, quoting, timeline, budget management, idea development and delivery. 

Support on new business development ensuring a pro-active approach to sales. This includes inbound and outbound sales e.g. support with pitches. 

Attendance of key industry events and tradeshows both nationally and internationally to aid in our expertise and position as an industry leading agency. 

Proactively develop client relations, aim for client growth, retention and increase in revenue where possible. 

Collaborate with key internal departments and external stakeholders, such as creative, production, and finance, to ensure that projects are delivered on time, on brief and within budget. 

Confidently make decisions with autonomy when required. 

Work closely with the internal Creative Team and external suppliers to ensure that all client projects are delivered to the highest possible standards. 

Remain on top of industry trends and best practice, share knowledge and insights internally and externally with clients. 

Contract & Salary

Full time, hybrid role with a competitive salary, with OTE: Profit Share Bonus.
