The GO Run For Fun (GRFF) campaign is delivered worldwide by a self-titled Foundation in partnership with INEOS & The Great Run Company. It was set-up with the primary goal of inspiring children to be healthier and more active through fun, short-distance running events. To date, the campaign has been a phenomenal success with over 300,000 children taking part across 400 events since 2013.
The Challenge
Brandwave were invited and appointed to help take the GRFF online presence to the next level. A campaign close to our heart and ethos, we jumped at the chance to work closely with the teams involved.
The existing site was increasingly becoming outdated, difficult and very time intensive to manage. For a global site, it was limited from a translation, new user and event registration perspective.
Key success factors of the brief included:
- Establish and identify the most suitable functionality options
- Design & build a site to cater for phenomenal international growth
- Create a central global site that met the needs of local teams rolling-out events
- Alleviate time to manage
”We are always keen to partner and work with companies and organisations that align with our belief that sport can be used as a catalyst for positive change. This initiative by INEOS is no different. Getting children outside and active can only be a positive thing.

The Result
To kick-off, Brandwave facilitated a full Scoping Workshop to ensure all stakeholders were aligned on the functionality required.
Design was influenced by an iconic, pre-existing GRFF identity which was applied creatively to reflect the campaign’s growth and future ambitions online.
Brandwave built a WordPress-based CMS that allows GRFF to simply manage a site with a large amount of both private and public content. To help streamline on-going management across a further 7 translated sites, the user and event registration process was overhauled along with a new user portal and bulk-upload photo gallery.
