2020… What a year it’s been! For most, it’s been a very challenging time, both professionally and personally. At Brandwave, it’s been no different. But, despite the obvious negatives, there have also been some positives to reflect upon…

They say all change brings opportunity and it’s been inspirational watching many of our friends and clients in the sports industry adapting, innovating, and pivoting their businesses to survive and thrive into a ‘new normal’ way of working.

At Brandwave we’ve had to put physical events and activations on pause. As a result, we’ve fully embraced a new way of working, hosting our first global digital events, providing online thought leadership, switching to digital strategy sessions with our clients and facilitating networking opportunities in the form of NetworkB and Brandwave Coffee Bars.

One of the most encouraging positives we’ve seen this year is the overall increase in physical activity. Whether it’s those going from couch to 5K for the first time or dusting off their long-forgotten bikes, there’s no doubt that many are experiencing the incredible physical and mental benefits of sports for the first time and that is a huge positive.

“2020 has been a tough year for the sports industry on many levels. Looking ahead to 2021, I think there’s an increasing appetite for sports, fitness, and wellness on a global level. There are new participants and technological opportunities. I hope this is something that the whole sports industry will benefit from moving forward”
