The Client

Compex is a Swiss brand that over a period of 30 years has become the world leader in portable Muscle stimulators for improved performance and recovery in sports. Compex’s flagship electrostimulation technology is essential to health care professionals and the most demanding athletes. It is now a widely known training technique coming from an unparalleled expertise, used for physical preparation, muscular recovery, injury prevention and pain treatment in sports and fitness. Backed up by clinical trials proving their effectiveness, Compex stimulators belong to medical device category class II and meet the requirements of the European Medical Standard 93/42 EEC.

As from 2016 onwards Compex is expanding its offering with other products such as a range of innovative braces, compression sleeves and socks, proving that Compex truly wants to be everybody’s “intelligent training partner”.

The Challenge

Compex approached us to design and build a new e-commerce website to showcase the brand and products and help drive sales on an international level.

The new website needed to amalgamate several existing micro-sites into one primary site, which would function as the brands Global online shop. Along with a smooth UX, the look and feel of the new site was crucial, with a complete re-design required based on the brand’s new identity.

The new website needed to be both multi-lingual and multi-currency as well as easy to navigate. ‘Future-proofing’ was also crucial to the client so that new product lines, currencies, and languages could all be added at a later date.

The Result

Brandwave designed and built a bespoke Drupal Commerce system for the new website by combining the Drupal Commerce suite of modules with a number of custom-built modules to provide the exact functionality that Compex required to meet their global business needs.

We first scoped the entire project which involved gaining a detailed understanding of the key business requirements from all global stakeholders. From this, the website strategy was formed enabling us to develop the very best product inline with the client’s business growth strategy and budget.

We then wireframed, designed, and built the site, developing a complete custom Drupal front-end solution. The website was originally built in 5 languages and 4 currencies to work with 10 territories and 3 distribution points with varied products, pricing and shipping rules across all. We subsequently added another 2 territories and another 2 currencies.

We were really impressed & charmed by the professionalism and expertise of the Brandwave team. Our weekly skype calls were entertained by people passing by on bikes in the background testing products, running gear laying around and laughter, not to be misunderstood as being laid back, on the contrary, the Brandwave team were on the project 24/7, working with us through the different challenges we encountered as a result of the complexity of our requirements.

I was also very impressed by the team’s commitment and ownership to deliver and to hit the target launch date. Today, 7 months after the initial launch, our site/shop has further developed with more products and countries online showing a revenue growth of 28% which is a great success.

This project gave us such confidence in Brandwave that we hope to start another similar project with them later in the year.
